Why Get Tested?
Measures specific level of hCG in the blood. To confirm or monitor pregnancy, to help identify ectopic pregnancy; to screen for pregnancy prior to some medical treatments; or as part of a panel of tests to screen for fetal abnormalities (e.g Down Syndrome).
When to Get Tested?
With suspected pregnancy (test can be done reliably by 10 days or earlier after missed menstrual period.
Sample Required?
A blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm.
Test Preparation Needed?
No preparation is needed for a blood sample.
